CALIFORNIA CLEAN TRUCK CHECK PROGRAM

Compliance with the Clean Truck Check Program May Include Your Personal  Heavy-Duty Vehicle

Subject Vehicles:

Vehicles 14,001 lbs gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or more powered by diesel or alternative fuel (natural gas and hybid, trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles) are subject to the Clean Truck Check.  This includes personal-use vehicles.  Motorhomes 14,001 or more registered in California are subject.

Exemptions:

  • Vehicles registered as low-use exemption
  • Vehicles registered as PNO with DMV
  • Zero-Emission vehicles
  • Historical vehicles
  • New vehicles with engines certified 2023-2027
  • Motorhomes registered outside of California

Note: The Clean Truck Check Program is separate from the California Air Resources Board  (CARB) TRUCRS requirements and requires a separate registration.

What do I have to do, as a vehicle owner, to comply with the reporting, fee, and periodic testing requirements?

Register subject vehicle(s) by January 31, 2024.  Pay $30 annual registration fee per vehicle.

If you are passed the registration deadline, please report the subject vehicle(s) immediately to avoid any DMV holds and/or CARB enforement at WWW.CLEANTRUCKCHECK.ARB.CA.GOV.
