WATCH! KCET - Blowing Concerns
Closed for 2019
The 2019 Lawn and Garden Equipment Exchange was very successful thanks to the support of our Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale and the facilities that hosted the events, the City of Lancaster Maintenance Yard and the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center. The Program successfully removed 151 units consisting of older gasoline-powered lawn mowers, string trimmers and leaf blowers all replaced with zero-emissions electric rechargeable replacements.
The Lawn and Garden Equipment Exchange is an annual program since 2009 that offers Antelope Valley residents with gasoline-powered lawn and garden equipment a savings of 60% - 75% off the purchase of new zero-emission, battery-electric rechargeable lawn and garden equipment with the trade of their gasoline counterpart. Upon inception the Program offered incentive towards the replacement of only gasoline-powered lawn mowers. Since then the Program has incorporated the replacement of gasoline-powered leaf blowers and string trimmers. Participants typically pay an out-of-pocket difference of 25% - 40% depending on their selection of equipment offered by the Program.
